Captain Larry Bell is no stranger to fishing, having grown up in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. During high school summer vacations in the early 1970’s, he came to Marathon and served as a mate on the head boat “Marathon Lady.” The day after he graduated from high school, he moved to Marathon permanently. He then studied for and received his Captain’s license, making him the youngest Captain in Marathon at that time.
He took that knowledge and worked on some the most prominent charter boats in South Florida, always calling Marathon his home port. Capt. Larry fished in many tournaments in South Florida and throughout the Caribbean—including Cuba, the Bahamas and Venezuela—before purchasing the “Blue Magic” in 1987.
The “Blue Magic” is a 32-foot Stuart Angler, built specifically for fishing and comfort. It has a gas engine (no diesel fumes), 3 comfortable custom fighting chairs, a tuna tower, a private head (bathroom), and shelter from the sun or occasional rain shower.
